Summer 2008 Update

Since I retired (as of March 31st), we have been busy traveling and having company. In April, we spent 2 weeks in Atlanta with my sister Karen & family, and attended the wedding of my niece Carolyn. We've had visits from Bud's nephew Yaser Dhaher & family, Cara & Frank Ulrich (from Archbold Ohio), and my mom is here with us for the summer. Karim & Heather had a beautiful baby girl on May 19th, so we are loving being first-time grandparents. Carolyn and her husband Josh moved here to SL for Carolyn's residency in OB-Gyn at the University of Utah, so we get to see them and hang out. Nick & Alia have been able to spend 3 weeks of their summer vacation here too, so we've loved that. Hopefully the pictures will explain some of the good times.

Karim & Heather's new house

Karim & Heather have moved into their new house in the Sugarhouse area of SL. They have almost everything organized and it is very comfy and cozy..... We enjoyed their cooking talents tonight.... Here are a few pictures---the office, kitchen, living room & dining area. They are having a great time in their own place after almost 1 1/2 yrs of hanging out with us.... and our house is very quiet again... :(

Thanksgiving, 2005

Joy, Karim & Heather traveled to Surprise, AZ for Thanksgiving to visit Elizabeth (G'ma). We flew down on Thanksgiving morning, and found beautiful weather there. G'ma fixed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, which we continued to feast on for the next 3 days. We took a trip to a beautiful cactus garden and learned about different kinds of cactus's. Many of them have edible parts that are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. We also checked out Ikea and Trader Joe's. We came back to SLC this morning to snow and 20 degree weather. Here are some pictures of our Arizona visit. (Bud stayed home and hung out with his nieces & nephews--also worked a little in anticipation of his retirement which is right around the corner).
